StarCraft 2
Posted by Lipton on May 30th, 2009 filed in StarCraft NewsI have high hopes for StarCraft 2, but who doesn't? It's not like Blizzard has ever created a lame sequel--they just keep getting better.
As someone who has been watching the StarCraft 2 website for many, many months, I have seen different units evolving as Blizzard sorts out balances. To be honest, I would have been happy if they had left StarCraft exactly the same only with updated graphics and game engine, but wowzers!
They added in stuff I always wanted!
For example, the Comm Center than can join the fight with a turret, and transport SCVs. It doesn't take much cunning to see that this has become the ultimate colony-in-a-can.
Furthermore, the Viking unit may well be an awesome land/air unit (depending on how they balance the unit's power), which would serve as a perfect escort for the colony-in-a-can.
These and many other possibilities are created with these new and modified units, which is cool, but the best part is that they stayed true to original game and kept the best units (Siege Tanks, for example!).
Having played the beta, I can honestly say, this sequel is not only going to do StarCraft justice--it is totally going to blow it away!
